Everyone has different priorities when it comes to picking a tent. Some people would rather carry as little weight as possible, even if it means a more austere sleeping situation at night. Others, all about comfort, would rather tote a few more pounds and have extra room to snooze and wait out stormy weather. If you’re in the latter group, Marmot’s Limelight 3 is worth a look. In a deep-dive review in 2022, Will McGough noted that the Limelight was the largest 3-person tent in that year’s test, packing 44 square feet of floor space and a total of 13 square feet of vestibule space. Add in near-vertical walls and a best-in-class peak height of 45 inches, and you have a shelter where hikers can stretch out and not worry about having to share space with their gear. (Caveat: That extra space adds penalty pounds. At a trail weight of 6 lb, the Limelight is also one of the heaviest tents in its category.)
