Trip Doctor: National Park Weddings

Can I get married in a national park?

by: Charlie Wood, Trail Doctor

Yes - and you won't be relegated to the visitor center. Pastor Steve Hughes of Yosemite's CrossWay Church (209-379-2428) has officiated atop Half Dome; Rev. Autrey Nassar of Yosemite Weddings (www.yosemiteweddings.com) specializes in park-based nuptials. Most parks lack such cottage industries, but allow ceremonies; couples have been wed at sunrise at Great Smoky Mountains' Myrtle Point for 70 years. Park policies vary, but most - like Grand Teton, where Signal Mountain's summit is a choice spot - require a special permit.
